Hot-ink printing involves the transfer of hot ink from an ink roller to a substrate by means of a heated, rotating typeholder.
The type is alternately in contact with the ink roller and the packing film/substrate. When the ink is deposited on the cool film, it solidifies immediately. The ink solidifies at room temperature and is durable up to approximately 90°C.
The printer is ideal for coding products such as ice lollies and chocolate bars where many items must be printed very quickly.
Elmoprint manufactures the hot-ink rotary printers R-35 M and R-35 EM, which are typically used for date coding and batch numbering. The two models are designed to run clockwise and anticlockwise respectively and with two different types of control units.
The R-35 M is a compact, uncomplicated coder for building in to packing machines. It is economical, fast and operationally reliable, and it is ideal for coding that does not need to be book-print quality.
The R-35 M is a mechanised printer driven by the friction of a rubber wheel against the packing film. The typeholder can be adapted to the specific requirement, e.g. it is possible to print all the way around the typeholder.
